The latest hand printed, promo gocco card is done. Everyone should have received there's by now so be sure to let me know if your still card-less. Because of the detachable card I went through 10 screens for the 3 color print.

Not to mention an extra screen for the envelopes. Too bad Gocco is gone as they are taking this beautiful little screen printing machine off the market...

Best Snow Mag ever. Had the pleasure of working w/ Jeff Baker (bro bra) and Aaron Draplin (design hero) on their collab projects, designing some custom pattern prints and rocking some colorways, layout, etc. on a slew of snow gear. Check the all the photos in the 'Gear Up' section of their final issue of the season (Jan?).

I met the infamous Dave Berardi in the high school years of Rochester, NY. Fresh from Buffalo the kid caused endless trouble at school, killed anything on the skate, and worked constant all-nighters at the family rental spot. My first (real) job was hauling tables and chairs there, staking a 80'x60' tent in car dealer concrete. Many years and a severe concussion later Dave asked for some new branding for his successful rental stores. It's got that golf course wedding feel...

Sighting: Elephant Seals Molting

The lady and I drove down the PCH from Big Sur unaware of Nature's plan: elephant seals shedding skin on the beaches of Cambria. We pulled over. They migrate to this beach every year to kick off some skin (known as 'molting') and just kick it.
God's land swept geometric pattern.
Dont front. These guys were practice scrapping and rolled over a nearby pup. She wasnt stoked. That's alota weight and these are just the kids.

Nikko, Japan - Commemorative Cards/Type

Basically the most inspiring spot on the recent DC Art Dept. trip to Japan (for me at least). 100 or so miles north of Tokyo, in the foothills of big mountain range, w/ a nice river, is Nikko. Established in 780 AC (roughly) as a temple for Buddhist monks many more holy places were established and now you can get a great bowl of veggie yaki soba too. Here are the highlight pics w/ a custom typeface that is suitable because it is not.

This temple houses on of the biggest buddhas in the world (wooden?) and is also home to Horse Headed Kanon, one of my favorite deitys in the Buddhist pantheon.

Taiyun-Byo: A mausoleum to the grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the warlord that took control of Japan and who also rests in Nikko.

Pagoda. A shinto motif predating Buddhist prevalence.
